The following document details the University’s response to the Cambridgeshire County Council’s Western Orbital consultation as part of the City Deal.
The University of Cambridge supports the full implementation of the City Deal and is committed to the economic prosperity of Cambridge and the whole region.
The University supports all options presented in the Western Orbital consultation. We believe the scheme could have significant benefits to Cambridge by improving connectivity and accessibility between residential and employment sites, with knock-on benefits on congestion, the environment and the economy. However the University favours “option D”, which proposes the introduction of a Park & Ride facility at Junction 11 and Park and Ride and Park and Cycle at Junction 12, and cycling improvements on Barton Road.
