Project Brief:

 

The new Whittle Laboratory has been designed as an Integrated Technology Accelerator. Its mission is to halve the time to develop key technologies to support a sustainable aviation industry.

The new building will be a facility without boundaries for a unique community of researchers, students, companies and entrepreneurs. It will incorporate the Bennett Innovation Laboratory and will also be home to the UK’s National Centre for Propulsion and Power.

The building has integrated sustainability into the design, targeting BREEAM excellent, with the use of Air source heat pumps and PV solar panels.
