Following completion of the major refurbishment, researchers and members of the University of Cambridge’s Early Cancer Institute are delighted to have successfully moved back into their beautifully redeveloped building, now known as the Li Ka Shing Early Cancer Institute on the Biomedical Campus.
The refurbishment works included densifying use of the building by integrating separate spaces and repurposing redundant facilities, including eliminating the use of gas. Further external improvements included a new front entrance extension, increased cycle parking, an enclosed bin and recycling area, an external louvred plant enclosure at roof level (to house the new equipment required to transfer away from gas power), and the building name now visible from Hills Road and Adrian Way.
The new Institute is now a state-of-the-art facility, providing a fitting environment for world-class research.
An official opening of the only Institute in the UK dedicated to early cancer research is to be announced.
