AJ Architecture Awards 2018

The Storey's Field Centre and Eddington Nursery building on the North West Cambridge Development won two awards at the AJ Architecture Awards ceremony on 4 December 2018, including the biggest prize - "Design of the Year". The second award was under the "Community & Faith Project of the Year" category (see related article on Architects Journal). 

Brick Awards and Wood Awards 2018

The Storey's Field Centre and Eddington Nursery has also seen success at the Brick Awards and Wood Awards 2018 (image to right courtesy of Alan Williams).

At the Brick Awards 2018, the buildings won in the public and outdoor space categories, plus specialist brickwork contractor for Anglian Brickwork Ltd and supreme winner overall.

At the Wood Awards 2018, the buildings won in the commercial and leisure category plus the Gold winner overall.

RIBA Awards

The Storey’s Field Centre and Eddington Nursery building has won a National Award from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) 

The National Award follows their success at the regional RIBA East awards ceremony earlier this year when the building won three awards for their outstanding design: a RIBA East Award, the Sustainability Award and the RIBA East Building of the Year Award (further information on the NW Cambridge website and related article on Architecture.com).

The building also reached the RIBA Stirling Priz shortlist of six (from 49 buildings receiving a National Award) to compete for the best building in the UK (related article on www.architectsjournal.co.uk). 

The David Attenborough Building by Nicholas Hare Architects was also awarded a National RIBA award. The building won two awards at the RIBA East Awards: a RIBA East Award and the Conservation Award (related article on Architecture.com). Planning Awards

The North West Cambridge Development won three awards at the Planning Awards - Planning for Affordable Housing, Planning for the Natural Environment, as well as the Editor’s Choice Award as the best overall scheme from the range of categories (further information on the NW Cambridge website).

RICS East Award

Eddington at North West Cambridge has also won the best Residential award and the North West Cambridge Development has won the coveted Project of the Year (related articles on NW Cambridge website and RICS website).

Scheuco Excellence Awards for Design & Innovation

The Simon Sainsbury Centre at the Cambridge Judge Business School, designed by Stanton Williams, has won both the Overall Winner and Best Education Project awards at the 2018 Schueco Excellence Awards for Design & Innovation which took place at the Saatchi Gallery in London in June (related article on architecturetoday.co.uk). The Simon Sainsbury Centre was also shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival 2018 awards which took place in November (related article on archdaily.com).
